"Hoops&Hip-Hop", The Dave East story

DAVE EAST AT TOWSON STATE WHERE HE
PLAYED WITH K.D.'S BROTHER TONY DURANT

 HOOPS & HIP HOP

WRITTEN BY, THE DRIBBLE GAWD

As long as I could remember dating back to my childhood in the 1980's hip-hop and basketball has always shared a  spiritual connection. Let's keep it real all of the cool guys always hung near the basketball court. Some came to the court to play ball and others to stand on the side of the court profiling, cracking jokes, and yeah of course rapping. Kurtis Blow one of Hip Hop's Pioneers once proudly rapped "Basketball is my favorite sport, I like the way they dribble up and down the court" That song came out  nearly 30 years ago so I'm not gonna claim to be the first Hip Hopper with a profound love for music&basketball.  BOOM!, BOOM!, BOOM! the rhythmic sound  the basketball makes when dribbled always sounded like music to me. I always wondered was I the only one who heard rhythm in dribbling. apparently not because Allen Iversons Reebok commercial from the late 90's dropped with Jadakiss spitting killer bars over the ambience of A.I.'s killer dribble.

If you dont belive me check the tv ratings when Steff Curry and the warriors play.
Seems like Biggie had at least part of it right when he said that "a wicked jump shot can get a guy up out of the streets" AND "if the jump shot does not work out you can always pick up a pen and take a crack at hip hop". This Plan of action of course does not work for EVERYBODY but for Nas's Protégé Dave East it did!!!
DAVE EAST (DAVID BREWSTER) IN 2006
D-1 RICHMOND SPIDERS
Born David Brewster summer of 1988 (some say golden Era of Hip Hop) Dave spent most of his life between Harlem and Queens. That's the first Red flag hold up, imagine taking QB's Finest Mobb Deep, Nas, Nature, Cormega, Tradegdy, CNN and you dump'em into a blender, sprinkle a little A.I. in it because it would be disrespectful to leave him out and you dump the whole Dipset if you get that feeling. It feels good to hear it again Fire. The words tumble from his lips rapid fire stacatto, abstracts, punch lines, yeah go figure that out. I'm 39 years old I heard this exuberance before reminds me of ESCO back in the day. ESCO? yeah ESCO, Nas, Nasty Nas, Nas Escobar, ESCO and evidently he reminded the Hip Hop icon of that sound because Nasir himself wasted no time signing Dave East to his label MASS Appeal Records. I did not even know Nas had a record label, NOBODY did! They know now tho, EVERYBODY knows. Thanks to a slew of Internet Freestyles and mixtapes namely "Hate Me Now" released in Oct of last year Dave goes line for line with Eastcoast Royalty like Jadakiss , Pusha T, Styles P, The Ghost, and hosted by none other than DJ Drama.Production from Jahlil Beats and Don Cannon. "Hate Me Now" even landed a feature from NAS himself "FORBES LIST" " where East cocky as a seasoned veteran raps  "If I get evicted play my bitch crib- you don't want no drama, niggaz pop up where yo kids live, set up where yo wife work I be dressed like I'm just coming to see if yo lights work Shooter do it just cuz he love me nigga dats light work"
another jewel by EAST IS "KD"

"KD" a world star Hip Hop video freestyle filmed on the legendary Dyckman  in Harlem. Is FUEGO.
The Hip-Hop Hoops element IS  in pro basketball best believe it. 2013 NBA MVPKevin Durant is rumored to be dabbling in beatmaking.Could a possibile collaboration be in the works afterall East attended Towson with KD's brother Tony. Maybe the new face of the East can bring that feeling back. You know the feeling i speak of.
Troy Ave did not do it.He didnt do it for me anyway.
Hoops and Hip Hop they both started out in the parks I just felt it was time for someone to say it
and say it loud. "GET ME ON THE COURT AND IM TROUBLE,LAST WEEK FUCKED AROUND AND GOT A TRIPLE DOUBLE",..Thats a good day according to Ice Cube. A good day for meis going to the gym and working out to a hot mixtape that i dont have to fast foward.Thats what you get when you give Dave East a listen what else can you expect from a guy named East??
Dave East's music  isn't for everybody.
I've heard some say "That music"He's making is played out referring to East's  traditional "QUEENSBRIDGE"east coast style flow. I beg to differ. I think Dave East was overdue. I spend a lot of time in New York City believe it or not they play more southern artists on the radio than they do theyre own hometown new york mc's. I'm thinking this all is attributed to the lack of good quality music.
No DIPSET, NO G-UNIT, D-BLOCK are running theyre final lap as elder statesmen.Dave East represents the new New York, And he's nice on the court. Must be a Harlem thing. Fell in love with the music after his dreams of playing in the NBA didnt pan out.Sounds errily similar to another superstar harlem mc who started out as a basketball standout.
Yall Stay Tuned you heard it here first Dave East.
Call up Blahzay Blah and tell him .....
THE EAST IS BACK IN THE HOUSE,OH MY GOD!..
